The European Commission will most probably launch the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) by the end of 2006 and it will run up until the end of 2013. The Framework programme will define the different research areas and instruments, as well as the rules for participation of research institutions and SMEs.

The goal of the new Framework Programme is to build a Europe of knowledge for growth, aiming to gather enterprises and researchers in a joint workfor  creating new products and processes, allowing companies to strengthen and enhance its quotas of market, and create more jobs and wealth.

During a training session taking place on 25 May 2006, the ways of enabling SMEs to participate in FP7 will be dealt with, and two workshops will be dedicated to two crucial areas for Portuguese research centres and industry: “Health” and “Food, Agriculture and Biotechnology”.

An exhibition of posters from different entities, aiming to show ongoing projects to companies, will take place throughout the morning.
